The Cora Houseboat is the first on the water accommodation commissioned by Auberge Resorts Collection located at their 5-star location, the White Barn Inn, located in Kennebunkport Maine.
East Coast Houseboats was chosen as the builder for this project for several reasons, first being the ability to provide a boat that can be used year-round in New England, and second being able to build a boat that provides the experience that guests at the White Barn Inn have grown accustomed to.
Once the decision was made to build the boat
as a 40’ LOA with a 15’9” beam with a floor plan that included a bedroom, bathroom, living room and fully useable roof deck. The in-house design team at East Coast Houseboats created all the plans used throughout the construction process
The designers at Auberge were focused on having the boat blend into the surrounding architecture. Cedar shingle siding, cedar railings for the roof and bow deck were designed and created by the ECHB build team. The focus on the interior was even greater, with every finish and product specified to align with the look and feel that guests at an Auberge facility had come to expect, 
from the marble tile in the shower to the soapstone chosen for the counter on the mini bar, no detail was left to chance.

While the boat had to look great, it also had to perform. First thoughts revolved around the guest experience and providing a comfortable environment was the easiest task to achieve since all East Coast Houseboats are built to perform year-round in any climate. High R-values of closed cell spray are incorporated into the floor, roof and exterior walls. Our standard windows were chosen for their quality, and the latest technology was utilized for HVAC. Large black and gray water tanks were designed into the build. Throughout the season fresh water was easily handled from the dockside pedestal but with the need for the boat to operate year-round, freshwater tanks were added, electricity was handled by a standard shore-power connection to the available 50-amp service at the pedestal.
